FBFC Turns 160!
We have been making lives better in the communities we serve since 1859. That makes us older than the Civil War, older than the Great Depression, older than radio, television and the internet, and maybe even older than Keith Richards (no one really knows)! Please enjoy this page and the slivers of history we’ve included to show you where we came from. There are even opportunities for you to help us give money away, and win some money for yourself. Peruse away!
Hear From The Community
We moved to Oconomowoc in 2016 from the Wisconsin/Illinois border. Because of online banking, for a while, we left our accounts in Antioch and banked by mail when necessary. One Saturday at the Oconomowoc Farmer's Market, as I was about to pay for my purchase, a First Bank Financial Centre employee stepped up and paid for it as their special treat. Another Saturday, they were giving out playing cards. We were so impressed that when we tired of banking by mail, we switched our accounts to First Bank Financial Centre. The customer service is always top notch. Happy birthday, First Bank Financial Centre!
I opened my first account at the Mequon office of FBFC in Oct. 2012 because there was a special promotion if you opened a new checking account. Very quickly I decided that this was a friendly, efficient, and pleasant place to bank. I was impressed that they always knew my name even though I had a very small account. Within the year I opened a savings account too, and started telling other people how nice it was to bank there. Most of the people I talked to agreed with my assessment and opened new accounts for themselves. When I received a huge bill for my small safety deposit box from another bank, I opened up a new box at FBFC and continue to be delighted by their service and reasonable rates.
When my former locally-owned community bank was bought out by a multi-national mammoth institution, I had to again find another home-grown bank where I could feel I was again an important piece of their long-term plan and they would be a piece of my long-term plan as well. First Bank Financial Centre was a wonderful find and they have been in my corner on all levels of banking, from mortgages to various monetary accounts and financial recommendations.
Returning to the West Bend area after a long absence, I received a promotion through the mail inviting me to use FBFC's services. For me, the welcome and connection was instantly agreeable. The staff was welcoming, always identifies patrons by name and returns the "small town" atmosphere that seems absent in most of the financial industry. The pleasure and support from the personnel is as genuine as it gets.
I've been a customer of FBFC since 2017 during my divorce. I needed a new home for my kids and I, yet we were still owning the old family home. After Chase gave me the mortgage approval and I made an offer, they were 6 weeks delayed with the closing. Trying to keep my seller's trust in me was difficult. Finally it came out approved and then I didn't qualify for PMI insurance. So the mortgage fell trough. It was an unbelievable nightmare: movers were ordered, seller put the house back on the market! I went to David Brogan and First Bank. David fought for us. First Bank booked the loan from their own portfolio, and within 3 (THREE!) weeks we had closed, and moved into the new home that I thought we had lost already.

The Adult Literacy Center of Ozaukee County offers one-on-one tutoring that responds to the unique learning needs of each student. We serve students who are learning English as a second language, working on their General Equivalency Degree, improving basic education skills and pursuing citizenship. Our students tell us improved literacy skills has help them to find meaningful employment, attain a promotion, participate in teacher-parent conferences with confidence, complete financial forms, attend doctor appointments independently and other routine life skills that many of us take for granted.
Mequon Nature Preserve is dedicated to the restoration of forests, wetlands and prairies from land formerly in agriculture.
