FBFC Turns 160!
We have been making lives better in the communities we serve since 1859. That makes us older than the Civil War, older than the Great Depression, older than radio, television and the internet, and maybe even older than Keith Richards (no one really knows)! Please enjoy this page and the slivers of history we’ve included to show you where we came from. There is even an opportunity for you to win some money for yourself. Peruse away!

Started out with a savings account opened in 1959 by my parents who had been with The Oconomowoc Bank since the mid 1940s. Still maintain an account there to this day as the power of attorney for my 96-year-old mother! And still to this day, great service over all these years. A BIG thank you to First Bank.
Back in the mid 70's I was hired as a teller for the Bank of Oconomowoc. While assisting the Head Teller, Patricia Schertz, Dennis Mallow made an announcement that there were 10 Bank of Oconomowoc shares available to purchase for a price of $150 per share. Well, there was no way I was able to purchase the 10 shares back then since my children were still in grade school and we had the usual home mortgage and auto payments to meet along with every day expenses that go along with a growing family. I had mentioned this to Mr. Mallow and asked if it was possible to just purchase a few shares. He said he was unsure but that he would get back to me. He did and as it turned out, the answer was yes, I can purchase a few shares leaving seven shares available to purchase by other employees.
So, that's exactly what I did. I purchased three shares at $150 each for a total of $450. (I truly would have loved to have been able to purchase them all!!!) The rest of the story is that those three little shares parlayed themselves into much more than I could ever have hoped. I am so very glad that I was able to buy the shares and remain a part of the new First Bank Financial Centre. I am one very happy camper! I would do it all again if I could. Since then, I have moved to West Virginia and have happily kept in touch with Mary Sharp at the bank. I still maintain three accounts at the bank and always deposit my dividends to one of them. Whenever I am in the area, Mary and I always try to get together for lunch (with anyone else who wishes to join us).
I started with you when you opened the Menomonee Falls branch office on a suggestion from a friend that I am sure glad I listened to. Since then I have moved my small business over to you as well as having my kids with you when they were of age. You have very nice employees and you do a great job! Congrats on your 160 year anniversary!
My family has been banking at FBFC since I was a little kid. I remember receiving my first piggy bank from the bank and starting my savings account, being sure to write updates each month in my penny savers booklet. I was always so excited to bring in the piggy bank when it was full and interacting with the nice staff members. As a teen, I was able to start a CD and learned so much about saving and banking from the staff who genuinely took an interest in making sure I understood all of the options and what made the most sense for that time in my life.
As I have grown up, I have enjoyed the ease, convenience, and care that I receive each time I visit a branch, call, or need assistance. Recently, I have moved out of state but decided to stay with FBFC because of the incredible customer service and genuine trust that I have with the bank. The fact that I can call and immediately speak to a representative when I have questions is a great example of why this bank has succeeded. Congratulations on a great 160 years and cheers to the next 160!
In early 2018 I was looking for my first home to settle into and I had no idea where to start. After a couple of failed attempts at finding a mortgage lender that suited me, my friend suggested I go talk to Julie Rajek at FBFC and I was extremely happy with how well she helped me through the home buying process and getting me approved for a good mortgage. She explained everything in great detail to me so I could make a well informed decision, she even suggested a great realtor that she regularly teams up with also named Julie. Together they got me into a home that I love and can afford. Thank you to the entire FBFC staff and especially Julie Rajek for making me a first time home owner!
